Destination Wedding at Industrial Venue in Amsterdam, a Love Story of Two Grooms

One groom from the UK, one groom from New Zealand, these two gentlemen come together and complete each other. Although they live in Singapore, they knew they wanted to plan a European destination wedding, so their family and friends could meet in the middle. They originally were looking in Berlin, Germany, but gravitated towards Amsterdam after seeing what our city has to offer. They had a vision in mind. Aesthetically, they wanted an industrial, rustic but modern venue. The vibe, a night of joy and partying with their family and friends. And we helped them execute just that. After lots of venue visits, the beautiful Helling7 in Noord was their choice. And they didn’t even get to see it in person! But our team at Art2Arrange has worked there many times. We were confident that it would exceed their expectations. After over a year of planning, their wedding day arrived during Pride Month in Amsterdam on July 12, 2025.

They started their wedding weekend by checking into the beautiful Villa Nicola. This boutique canal-side accommodation offers that Dutch charm but more privacy than a hotel. Not to mention the host is amazing!

The night before the big day they had a welcome party at Cafe De Sluyswacht. This iconic location is right on the water and is quite popular with tourists for its charming look. This wonky and crooked little cafe was the perfect place to rent out for their group of 70.

The wedding day began with a peaceful morning. The host of Villa Nicola prepared them a lovely brunch spread, and they enjoyed a slow start as they got ready with the sun shining and birds chirping, surrounded by their favorite ladies.

All of the guests joined them on a canal boat tour to kick off the celebration. They had two boats, because so many loved ones joined them they couldn’t fit into one! The couple split their time on both boats, and cruised on the canals for a couple hours with cold drinkings flowing and the sun shining. The boats picked them up nearby the hotels and they got dropped off right at their venue, Helling7, where everything was beautifully decorated.

They didn’t want to do a formal ceremony, so they had a casual standing ceremony on the terrace. A few family members led the ceremony, and the couple sealed their vows to “Breathless” by The Corrs played. They had a cocktail hour on the terrance to begin their reception.

Dinner was served family-style, with a beautiful menu curated by the couple and Helling7 culinary team. This was no standard wedding menu, think bone marrow and cote de boeuf, hamachi with fresh fruit, and sea bass with champagne beurre blanc. These guests were served a showstopper dinner. Dinner was accompanied by a handful of lovely speeches from the couple’s best friends, who entertained everyone by making them laugh and cry.

The night continued on with the couples signature martini hour, a personal touch by them as they love a crisp and perfectly crafted martini. Martinis were accompanied dessert, an amazing chocolate and dulce de leche sweet. Everyone danced the night away to the amazing set by DJ Darling Peter, and this gay couple ended their perfect wedding day surrounded by their closest family and friends on the dance floor.

A review from the couple,

“We can’t say enough wonderful things about Annelies and her team, who planned our wedding in Amsterdam. From the very first meeting, Annelies impressed us with her calm, composed approach and her incredible organizational skills. She truly listened to our vision and always offered thoughtful suggestions and creative ideas that elevated our plans to something even more special. Throughout the entire process, she made us feel completely at ease, and her experience and confidence were invaluable in navigating all the decisions and details that come with planning a wedding.

On the day itself, everything was flawless — not a single detail was out of place. Our guests are still raving about how perfect the wedding was, and we owe that entirely to Annelies and her amazing team. They managed last-minute guest requests and unexpected situations seamlessly, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy every moment without stress. If you’re considering getting married in Amsterdam and want an outstanding planner who will deliver your dream day, look no further than Annelies and her team!”
