Martina & David, Elopement Wedding Sevilla, Spain

Lovebirds Martina and David said their “I do’s” in one of the most beautiful places in Spain: the Andalucian city of Sevilla. A gem of a city with charming squares, picturesque neighbourhoods and impressive historic monuments. This delightful Dutch couple dreamt of a private ceremony here to exchange their vows and celebrate their love in an intimate setting, so of course we made that happen! They also had a civil ceremony and celebrated their union amidst family and friends in the Netherlands, but they wanted a special day reserved for just the two of them to honor and reflect upon their love for another – the road already travelled and the future to come.

Sevilla is very dear to them as they visited this magical city at the start of their relationship four years ago. Martina and David’s ceremony took place in the heart of the city at the magical Hotel Alfonso XIII – a Luxury Collection Hotel which is intimately linked to weddings since 1928, when it was officially inaugurated for Princess Isabel Alfonsa and Count Juan Zamoyski’s wedding banquet. Everything about Hotel Alfonso XIII makes you feel like royalty – from the decor to the staff, it’s truly grandiose.

The intimate ceremony took place in a special part of the hotel: a tower that overlooks the entire city. From there you can take in all the beautiful colors that make the architecture in Sevilla so unique and spectacular – with styles ranging from Gothic to Baroque, Renaissance and Mudejár the view is simply magnetic. Besides from the magnificent architectural wonders you can also delight in other marvels of the city such as the famous orange blossom trees that gently sway in the warm spring breeze, the heart-warming sight of the characteristic horse-drawn carriages and the vibrancy of people living their lives and enjoying themselves on sunny terraces. And let’s not forget about the astonishing cathedral, what a view! Can you imagine celebrating your love in such an exceptional manner while at the same time enjoying the grandeur of this mesmerizing city? We had to keep pinching ourselves as we couldn’t believe this was truly happening!

We wanted the happy couple to sit back and relax on the eve of their big day, so we booked a luxurious spa treatment in which Martina and David were pampered and had a nice couple’s massage. On the morning of their wedding day they enjoyed a lovely breakfast together after which the hair and make-up professionals whisked Martina away to get ready for the ceremony. We had the best of times working with everyone in the wedding business in Sevilla. The wedding business there knows where it’s at since the weather in this Andalucian city allows for beautiful weddings almost year round. Therefore, the suppliers in the wedding business know how to bring their A-game. It was a delight to work with everyone involved.

The ceremony itself was intimate and beautiful with just Martina and David, the officiant, a musician and us – an elopement as personalized and unique as they come. The service was led by a Dutch officiant whom the couple had already met and got acquainted with in the Netherlands. Because of this the officiant was able to truly make everything about the happy couple and their very own love story. As the officiant spoke a Spanish guitarist played music in the background which made everything even more magical.  It was heart-warming. After the ceremony we took a moment to celebrate with the cutting of the cake and a champagne toast. Then Martina and David enjoyed a Sherry Tasting and they took a traditional Iberian Ham Cutting Course at Hotel Alfonso XIII. To top it all off Martina and David delighted in a romantic dinner together. What a day! What a weekend!

Not just the wedding ceremony, but the entire trip was all about Martina and David and their love for one another. That’s what makes an elopement so special: you get to celebrate exactly how YOU want to, it’s an opportunity to design a celebration for your exceptional love for one another.
